Who You’re Working With
Monica Jacobs, aka MJ
Heyyyy Y’all!
I’m Monica and the founder of Copper Penny Coaching—but more importantly, I’m someone who understands what it feels like to hit rock bottom… and then get back up. I know what it’s like to rebuild from the ground up. I’ve walked through trauma, addiction, and burnout, and came out on the other side…not as someone who has all the answers, but as someone who knows how to stand in the mess with others.
With a background rooted in lived experience, my work blends holistic coaching with practical tools and no-nonsense support.
I work with individuals, teams, and organizations who are ready to rebuild - on their own terms. Through coaching, consulting, and curated experiences, I help folks find their footing, reconnect with themselves, and more forward with clarity and purpose. My style is honest, grounded, and all about meeting you where you are.
My Approach
Whether I’m coaching one-on-one, working with a company crew or leading a community workshop, my style is always the same: real talk, honest feedback, no fluff.
I don’t do one-size-fits-all. I mean, when has that ever worked? I believe in conversations that matter, spaces that feel safe to show up in, and strategies that actually stick in the real world.
My work is rooted in:
Lived experience - not just theory
Trauma conscious practices, especially important in high stress work and recovery spaces
Straightforward guidance - because people don’t need fixing, sometimes they just need to be heard and seen.
Practical tools - that you can use on a jobsite, in a meeting, or on your own.
Trust-building - whether you're with yourself, your crew, or your story.
In coaching, I meet people where they are and walk beside them, not ahead of them.
In consulting, I help teams and leaders create healthier work cultures, especially in the trades, by making mental health, communication and recovery-informed leadership part of the conversation.
In community, I curate spaces where connection, reflection and real-life growth can happen - whether it’s a circle, a workshop or a retreat.
At the heart of it all is respect, realness and the belief that everyone - no matter how worn down - will always hold value.
